If, for whatever reason (including but not limited to poor memory, work commitments, injury, and/or acts of God), you’ve missed out on tickets for the second annual Camp Doogs, we understand, we are here for you. Yes it is traumatic, yes almost the entire Perth music scene is on a holiday down south for the weekend, yes you may feel stuck in Perth with nothing to do. Don’t worry, we’ve compiled a list of things to do other than spending the entire weekend crying.
Take your mind off the fact that you won’t be partying with Gunns and others down in the bush somewhere near Nannup with some vinyl markets. Vinyl by the Sea at the Cottosloe Beach Hotel is this Saturday, and RTRfm’s Hotcakes is on Sunday at the Velvet Lounge.
Need some live music to get over the fact that Aborted Tortoise and Dream Rimmy are probably introducing punk rock to native flora and fauna at this very moment? Louis and the Honkytonk have a single launch at the Bird tonight, where The High Learys are on tomorrow night. If that’s not your thing, how about Ya-Ya’s “Farewell to Live Music” to cheer you up? Hang on, ok so whilst it’s not the best news it will still be a good way to spend your Saturday night, plus it’s free. If you’re looking for more free gigs, bluegrass act The Seals are spending their Sunday afternoon with a leisurely set at the Fremantle Arts Centre.
If none of those cheer you up about the lack of Doogs in your life there’s always the Elliot Smith Tribute night this Sunday at the Bird to help you feel sad and lonely, acts include Delay Delay and David Craft.
Stay strong, listen to good music, and take comfort in the fact that there is always next year (also look at our album of cute but sad dogs we found thanks to the wonder of google). You will have a good weekend! We believe in you!
