Three extra days of Rev Film Fest’ announced – Rev Rewind

– by David Morgan-Brown

If you thought the Revelation Perth International Film festival was completely done and dusted for another year, you are absolutely wrong (as was I). Revelation has introduced the Rev Rewind section of the festival, which showcases a bunch of encore screenings of some of the more talked about films of the festival.

Four docos and one feature film that recently played will be back for the next three days so there’s still a chance to check out the likes of Suburra, the new hard-boiled neo-noir from Stefano Sollima, Weiner, the exposé on disgraced congressman who tied his last name to the sort of sexy scandals he caused, Chemsex, a shocking insight into underground drug-driven sex clubs, and two docos on highly influential musicians like Eat That Question, a love-letter to Frank Zappa as he tries to explain who he is (or isn’t) through interview clips, and Janis: Little Girl Blue, which tells the tale of the short-lived, but highly influential singer.

“We’re really pleased to be able to present these encore screenings of some of the most popular titles of the 2016 program,” says Festival Director Richard Sowada. “It’s the final opportunity for Perth audiences to see these fantastic big-screen titles and their last taste of Rev’s international program for 12 months. This opportunity shows how many people in Perth support Revelation and the films we screen.”

This is the first year Revelation has put on Rev Rewind, so if you were keen to see any of the listed films above and missed out, now you have another chance. This is a great new addition to the festival and I hope it continues into each and every year as there are sometimes so few screenings that folks can’t quite make it to, but now they can take advantage of these extra screenings. I’d love to check out Weiner and Eat That Question this Tuesday, though I’ve already got plans for that night, can Revelation have another few encore screenings?
