The Colosoul Gig Guide

– by Aliza Caruso

A lovely little handful of gigs and local music events that we reckon are worth paying attention to.

Friday is looking pretty damn sweet, with FOAM set to throw quite the pre-tour party at Mojos Bar, with Aborted Tortoise, The Pissedcolas and the ever angelic gals from Childsaint bringin’ the fun.

$10 at the door from 8pm.

For those of you who like secrets (and maybe even those of you who don’t), Lad & Lass Clothing Co. are putting on a very secretive gig in a very secretive location with a not-so-secretive lineup including Moana, King Cactus, Apollo’s Son, Shit Narnia, Mugwump, and Wasted Grapes. Everything else is all still a bit secretive, but people have been warned not to bring children…

Or perhaps you’re keen for a pretty casual, chilled out kinda vibe to settle ya down after a long day at the ol’ workplace? Then The Bird is the place for you, my casual friend. Catlips is spinning a few new tracks from her upcoming EP Casual, with some cas drop ins from Savoir, Day Woo Entertainment Syndicate, & Fungle Club x Beecroft Sux.

Only $5 at the door from 8pm.

Saturday is due to be a biggie, with RTRfm’s mini-fest ‘Distant Murmurs’ taking over The Rosemount from 2pm ‘til late. All in all, there’s a delicious selection of over twenty acts performing on the day and throughout the evening, including Mei Saraswati Band, Simone & Girlfunkle, The Long Lost Brothers, Ghetto Crystals, Odette Mercy & Her Soul Atomics, Gunns, Mathas, Silver Hills, and Doctopus. Good grief, it’s like a smorgasbord of local talent. We’ll be there (probably crying over set time clashes), so come say hey!

Early bird tickets are $20 for general public, $15 for RTR subscribers. Prices will be more on the door.
