Workpower, an organisation that creates training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities and mental illness, employs the staffs at 1905 Coffee. The coffeehouse acts as a launch pad for people by equipping them with new skills and greater confidence so that they can further their careers in hospitality. 1905 Coffee produce more than just good coffee and food! They urge customers to “feel good about being part of a venture that’s much more than a coffee shop”.
The wholesome menu consists of your daily breakfast needs such as homemade toasted muesli with freshly chopped fruit and topped with honey and yoghurt ($9.50) with pancakes with chopped strawberry, banana and maple syrup ($10.50). Along with burger of the week ranging from prime beef patty accompanied with their very own secret sauce ($12.50).
Built in 1905 as a furniture store and listed as a heritage building, it’s been freshly remodelled for the café over a hundred years later. The 40-seat café also offers free Wi-Fi. 1905 Coffee on Newcastle is bright with orange cushions complementing wooden floors with high ceilings.
The atmosphere is fresh, young and vibrant and there are readily available daily papers, magazines and second-hand books for you to browse. 1905 Coffee on Newcastle not only satisfies your heart but your belly as well.
