This year’s Revelation Perth International Film Festival has recently announced its line-up, offering up plenty of films and documentaries to be playing on the big screen at Luna cinemas in July. Films from all across the globe including Iceland, Canada, France, Paraguay, Ukraine, Japan, and Australia have made it into this year’s programme, proving once again this excellent film festival is a great way to catch up on films before they’re released in the cinemas (if they are at all).
Some of the highlights include screenings of High Rise (pictured left), the new film from Ben Wheatley based on the large apartment-set JG Ballard novel; Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal; Swiss Army Man, the controversial comedy-drama starring Daniel Radcliffe as a flatulent zombie; Weiner, the documentary about the disgraced politician of the same name; My Scientology Movie, the anticipated documentary on this religion/cult by Louis Theroux; Laurie Anderson’s art-doco Heart of a Dog; the Frank Zappa documentary Eat That Question; and more than a handful of documentaries of the legendary puppeteer Jim Henson.
This also includes the Iranian Film Festival, Cine Vivo Latina Film Festival, the Revel Super-8 short film festival, WA Screen Awards, a number of video art exhibitions, and RevCon which will host a number of seminars for budding film-makers and video-artists here in Perth.
