The City of Fremantle has always been famous for it rich cultural atmosphere, will be hosting this years Healthway Lights Out Arts Festival. Set to be a vibrant celebration of visual art, music, fashion and film, the festival aims to promote local talent while raising awareness for both Earth Hour and WWF. The festival starts at 5pm and will continue until midnight, however in honour of Earth Hour at 8.30pm the lights will go out! But luckily for those interested in the visual arts displayed at The Basement Gallery’s Pop-up Exhibition, there will be plenty of time before and after Earth Hour to have a look at the art works exhibited. Even if you get caught out in the dark while perusing an awesome piece of art, Colosoul’s Basement Gallery will be kindly providing torches, so you won’t miss a thing.
There is a fascinating range of modern perspectives represented from the local artists included in the exhibition. The Basement Gallery faves, Shlives, Rahalie and Sean Nicholls, are among some of the artists represented. As well as a new face, A – O K, whose distinctive style investigates themes such as the urban landscape and feminine identity from a multicultural perspective. Between Shlives gritty and grotesque urban depictions and Rahalie’s beautifully detailed drawings, or delicately coloured portraits the range of artworks provides something to interest everyone. With a $5 donation given to WWF with every sale, it well worth coming down and check these local artists out. It’s the perfect opportunity to support the local art scene in Perth and our beautiful environment.
