Sydney band Lime Cordiale have just released their EP Road To Paradise after dropping the lead single ‘Not That Easy’ 2 months ago and setting off on an Australia wide tour. With the rock influenced pop sound Road to Paradise gives off it’s hard to see why they aren’t more well-know.
“Hanging Upside down” is the leading most track on the EP with 300,000+ plays on Spotify and it’s clear to see why people love it so much. The pop-chill vibe the song has keeps you listening over and over. Producer Jean Paul-Fung’s influence on the track has also taken it that one step further.
It surprises me that “Not That Easy” is not the most popular track as it really showcases the band’s sound. It starts off slow before building up to an dramatic climax when it reaches the chorus, blowing you away with the drums and guitar melding together creating a catchy tune that will stay with you for hours. So far I’ve listened to this song at least 10 times and it’s my favourite track on the EP.
“Spider Legs” is more mellow but presents funk influences by really incorporating trumpet sounds, giving this song a new mood unlike that of any other one of their song. I can only imagine how amazing this song would be live.
Another favourite of mine is “Feel Alright” as it has the most alternative pop feeling than any other track on the album. The backing vocals remind me a lot of Ball Park Music, if you like them you’ll love this track.
This EP was not the type of music that I would normally choose to listen to, but I’ve already fallen in love with Lime Cordiale and I can only hope one day they’ll bring their Australian tour to Perth. I’ve already recommended them to quite a few of my friends and we can’t wait to hear what’s next.
