A teaser of what Agenda is bringing you this weekend, his debut album and the launch party to boot.

You’ve just dropped your single, ‘Body.Mind.Soul’, from your upcoming album. What can you tell us about this single?
It would definitely be a favourite track of mine in terms of the creation process. I’d written about half the song without a beat when I started experimenting with sitars and vibraphones in the studio one morning after a long-ass mediation session, it all just came together that day!
What can you tell us about your upcoming album “Time and Space”?
“Time and Space” has been on the backburner for a while. I’ve wanted to do an album for a couple of years but due to working and travelling overseas out of a backpack, I had limited opportunities. I came back to Perth in December with plans to finally finish the album. Some songs were written in 2009, some were written last week. I had some songs in the pipeline actually, when I started helping set up Wordplay Magazine back in 2011! The whole concept behind the album was to showcase a broad range of styles and topics that were influenced by different places and periods over the last few years (hence the album name). There are uplifting spiritual tunes, darker political stuff, jazz and funk-inspired melodies, some spoken word and even a love song. All peppered with random samples that I’ve recorded from around the world. It’s about time this album was made.
You’ve got the production credits on your single. How about the album? Was it a solo production effort? Who else handled production duties?
I made most of the beats myself and took on the majority of basic production, recording and editing duties. Some of the mastering I managed to do myself, but I actually outsourced a lot of it to different audio engineers around the world. The Internet is a crazy tool and probably needs a mention.
You have a gig coming up at the Swan Basement on Saturday March 28. What can you tell us about that? Who else is playing? And, why did you choose them to play?
This Saturday, from 8PM to Midnight at the Swan Basement.
It’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait! I’ve got some of my original partners in rhyme – Sirgin and Design – kicking it off with some of their classic jams. Beckon and Silvertongue have been tearing up the Perth scene and are going to be raising the roof with their skills. Those who don’t know who they are, will by the end of the night. DJ Silence will be on decks. Everyone there was chosen because they’re true musicians, living and breathing this creative culture. We’re going to have a live band on hand for funky freestyles . $10 on the door, with plenty of good vibes in store! It’s also somewhat of a going-away party for me.
