This cool little hotdog joint sits just on the quieter outskirts of the main strip in Fremantle. From the outside, you can see a few tables topped with Where’s Wally pages and filled with small groups of happy diners sitting on comfy drummer’s stools. The staffs make this place an even more enjoyable, lively and happy vibe.
Run Amuk has a contemporary American diner feel to it with an open kitchen, a drinks fridge displaying American sodas and even a wall mural of toy cars. The menu lists a mouth-watering selection of gourmet hotdogs ranging from classics full of cheese, onions and bacon through to the buns packed with tasty relishes and chutneys and plenty of spice options.
You can have your pick from the classic – The Brat which consists of a bratwurst, caramelised onions, tomato sauce and American-style mustard ($8.50). If you’re really adventurous, give The Punk a try – with bratwurst, crispy bacon, lightly caramelized onions, aged cheddar, American-style mustard, tomato sauce and smokey BBQ sauce ($12). To end the meal, try a tummy satisfying milkshake – Knickerbocker Glory ($7) filled with layers of vanilla ice cream, strawberry jelly, chocolate sauce, chopped nuts, fresh cream and to top it all of with cherry and mini M&Ms. Doesn’t that just sound so yum!
Run Amuk uses locally made bratwurst sausages, which are 70% pork, and 30% beef with a special blend of herbs and spices. Vegetarians can opt for locally handmade vegie sausages, made with organic, gluten-free ingredients for $1 extra. The sausages are free of gluten, artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.
The hotdogs are big, ingredients are fresh and you are certain to leave full, satisfied and definitely happier! So next time you’re close to the beach, take a walk to Run Amuk. Trust me! You won’t regret it.
