Colosoul Gig Guide 6/2/2015

– by Aliza Caruso

A lovely little handful of gigs and local music events that we reckon are worth paying attention to.

I hope you folks took my advice from last week and snapped up tickets for Hush: An Evening of Quiet Music on Friday evening. This session hosts the lovely Jordi Davieson and Josh Biondillo of San Cisco, Felicity Groom, Timothy Nelson, and The Wilds. With no predicted thunderstorms to disturb the mood, it’s set to be a magical night of intimate and, well, hushed performances.

Date: Friday, Feb 6th
Time: 7-10pm
Venue: St George’s College, Crawley
Tickets: $35 from Fringe World (SOLD OUT online, but keep an eye on the event page just in case)

St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is back in Freo for another year and we’re all pretty excited about it, to be honest. Featuring a delicious lineup of local and international artists including FKA Twigs, Little Dragon, Royal Blood, St Vincent, Pond, Flying Lotus, Peter Bibby, Mac DeMarco and his mama bear, Agnes, on MC duty. It’s gonna be hot and it’s gonna be wild. Get on down.

Date: Sunday, Feb 8th
Time: 11am-10pm
Venue: Esplanade Reserve, Fremantle
Tickets: $145 from Moshtix, 78 Records, and Mills Records

And if eleven hours of scrumptious live music wasn’t enough, head on over to Mojos for the unofficial Laneway afterparty with Walter TV and Andy Boay! Highly recommended for fans of Mac DeMarco (hint hint). Things are probably gonna get pretty messy (in the best possible way). Get down early if you can, you don’t wanna be the lameo who misses out on this.

Date: Sunday, Feb 8th
Time: 9pm
Venue: Mojos Bar, North Fremantle
Tickets: $10 at the door

Later on, belated Peter Bibby album launch celebrations will be taking place at The Bird on Tuesday, along with his Bottles Of Confidence and support from Galloping Foxleys. Fun times ahead.
