When I say deep fried sushi – would that throw you off or are you intrigued enough to delve further? Have you always been the kid that defies all things traditional and mashes flavors together? Then stop by Iku Sushi on William Street. This little quirky sushi place has gone out of its way to set itself apart from the million other sushi places in Perth.
Filled with heaps of color and Japanese inspired knick-knacks, Iku Sushi is pretty hip compared to your traditional lunch bar types. Menu wise, you have the everyday rolled sushi rolls (from $3.50) to bento sets (from $9.45) and noodles (from $2.50). But one thing you have to try is their cheeseburger sushi (from $8.95) – crispy fried inside out sushi roll, coated with their very own batter mix and served with spicy mayonnaise.
Another unique thing about this little joint is that they allow you to make your own sushi. Imagine a sushi filled with all your favorite fillings people! And to boot, you can have a little ménage à trois going on with a choice of bubble tea. The menu ranges from the original bubble tea (from $4) to presteage and healthteas (from $4.90).
With a little melted cheese and rice that’s still soft on the inside but crispy on the outside, it’s nothing like your everyday chicken teriyaki rolls. Although sushi has always been seen as the best option for a quick and healthy lunch, it is hard to deny the awesomeness that is deep fried sushi!
