Perth indie-folk ensemble Patient Little Sister recently released their second EP Bit By Bit. Adding to their list of achievements this repertoire of folk revival features Eliza’s mournful violin, harmonic vocals, and a guitar range reminiscent of Bob Dylan. With its country folk feel and Fleetwood Mac vibe the EP is a solid take on life through a despondent looking glass. Tracks like ‘Burning Star’ use upbeat rhythms to contrast with a melancholic tone, creating a full-bodied track. ‘You Light My Way’ is a fragrant love letter, and it switches up the atmosphere from the rest of the EP. It upholds Patient Little Sister’s ability to write a signature catchy chorus with an abundance of percussion, cementing the tune as a foot-tapping, head-catching anthem with a similar feel-good vibe comparative to San Cisco. Finishing their latest project off on a good note ‘You Are My Friend’ is my personal pick and was a crowd favourite at the launch. With its laid-back beat and elemental groove, incorporating a variety of instruments and sounds the track is a much-welcomed addition to what is a solid second EP from Perth up-and-comers Patient Little Sister.
