Belle and Sebastian Announce Australian Tour

– by Leah Vlatko

From the moment we discovered Belle and Sebastian were headlining the Auckland Laneway Line up, our expectations were raised in the hope that the Scottish Indie folk pop darlings would return to Australia for the first time in four years.

This chamber pop band has with graced us with their characteristically melancholy twee since their formation in Glasgow nearly two decades ago. Named after a 1965 children’s book, Belle and Sebastian soared to fame with the unexpected success of Tigermilk, and have since written about love, music, and the humour of existentialism. Their ninth studio album, Girls in Peacetime Want To Dance, is due out on  16th January in Australia

Fresh off the release of front man Stuart Murdoch’s new film, God Help the Girl, and having just re-issued the band’s entire vinyl catalogue, this announcement  comes at a very exciting time for fans.

Also very exciting news is the announcement that the band will be joined by Melbourne foursome, Twerps. This jangle pop band has been described by UK magazine Uncut as “the best new band in Australia,” and we look forward to seeing them tour in the lead up to their highly anticipated second album next year.

Do not miss out on what looks to be a wonderful show from a wonderful band with a brilliant career.
