Balmy vibes and Indi-punk tunes from four piece band, The Tommyhawks.
BY HAZEL MARTIN-McALLISTER
The Tommyhawks and their new single ‘Bedroom’ comments on that universal struggle of being not quite grownup but also not a child anymore and the “vulnerability of the mind”. This message is conveyed through its smooth and quirky Indi-punk style and comes off the forthcoming EP This Is Not A Desert.
The “fierce femme-fatale foursome” provide a smooth and groovy tune and through this, creates the atmosphere of teen angst. The opening trumpet sets the mood for this song and paired with the almost ‘surf-grunge’ electric guitar it creates a laid back atmosphere that makes you reminiscent of balmy summer nights. The vocals for this track really make this tune’s punk-y vibe and sounds very similar to famous female rock artists such as PJ Harvey and Tired Lion‘s Sophie Hopes, which packs a powerful punch in the chorus to really round up the single overall.
The Tommyhawks is set to play this Friday the 31st of March at Mojo’s bar before heading off over east to complete their Australia wide tour to promote their new EP. Make sure you grab a ticket here: The Tommyhawks Bedroom Single Launch!
