Luke Fox debuts his new single ‘Devotion to the Ocean’.
By KRISTINA WILFORD
‘Devotion to the Ocean’ is a new release from local-lad Luke Fox. This is the Perth musician’s debut release and with a sound to rival the likes of Vance Joy and Passenger, Fox is certainly onto something.
The song starts off as a soft, acoustic number, full of emotion. It then builds into a catchy, dreamy chorus that still tugs at the heartstrings. Produced by industry-heavyweight Matt Gio who has worked with Abbe May and Birds of Tokyo to name a few, it’s easy to see why he wanted to work with Luke Fox.
Raised in WA’s South-West, the love for the ocean is heavily apparent in the song. But the WA swell hasn’t stopped Luke Fox from playing his way across Portugal, France, California, Mexico, and Brazil. This is evident in the lyrics longing for home and love. What I loved about the track is that its easily relatable. We’ve all been far away from our home and the things and people that we love at some stage. A musician that can bare their soul and bring honest and accessible lyrics, is one who will be around for a long time. I for one can’t wait to see what this emerging talent does next.
You can catch the winner of the Groovin’ the Moo triple j Unearthed competition, playing at the Bunbury leg of the festival. Boasting a huge line-up that consists of Aussie artists Amy Shark, San Cisco, Tash Sultana and of course Luke Fox. This is one not to be missed. Luke will also be playing various shows across Perth and the south west.
