This weekend, come support and celebrate WA’s blooming music industry with WAMFest! Brought to you by WAM (Western Australian Music) — an organisation that has been passionately nurturing local musicians since 1987 —WAMFest will showcase the brightest of homegrown music of all size and genres.
The four-day festival bonanza (3rd–6th November) happening in the bars & open spaces of Perth will begin with the WAMAwards Party on Thursday night. The WAMAwards Party will house exclusive performances, and have some of WA’s most exciting and up-n-coming talents nominated for winners in 31 WAMAward categories. After a three-year hiatus, WAM’s Kiss My Camera competition has returned and this year’s winners will also be revealed on the night.
If you didn’t manage to get one of the very limited tickets to the WAMAwards Party, don’t fret. Day two and three of WAMFest is packed to the rim with live acts and showcases (which does include acts from the WAMAwards nominees!). Friday’s showcases include events such as: the South West Showcase at Fridays Studio, where a selection of sounds & visuals from the South West will be exhibited; Free Spirits at The Bird, featuring the cream of the crop of WA’s live electronic musicians and DJs; and Perth Punk is Dead at The Boston, carefully curated for the punk fans of Perth. Continue riding the sound waves of WA’s music scene with WAMFest’s Saturday Spectacular, which will take you through Northbridge with back-to-back shows from 4pm–midnight. What’s the price to pay for great, non-stop music? There is none! Entry to any of the 11 venues the 80+ acts of the day will be playing at is completely free.
Sunday brings the festival to a close but not without an epic closing party. Partnering with Palour, WAMFest’s Sunday Best invites you to experience three acts in three homes; this is the “The Airbnb of live music”. The acts include Zoe Ryan, The Jayco Brothers, and Teischa, and the locations are: Northbridge, Bayswater and Doubleview. Get your pals together for a serendipitous end to the biggest celebration of WA’s music scene.
