A team of British researchers have found digital avatars can help reduce voices within schizophrenia patients.
With the patients help, the team created a face and a voice to closely match what the patient hears.
Along with digital avatars, counselling was provided to the patients in the study.
Lead researcher Professor Tom Craig from Kings College London said, “This study provides early evidence that digital therapy rapidly reduces the frequency of auditory Hallucinations.”
Although effective, the research shows these effects tend to last up to 6 months before more therapy is needed. It is still set to revolutionise how Schizophrenia patients are treated.
