      ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 - Group A - 2nd Match
by Amish Desai

Kenyan Captain Jimmy Kamande won the toss and elected to bat first, boy did he not know what was yet to occur. Hamish Bennett took advantage of the variable bounce and exposed the Kenyan’s batting; the seam bowler ripped the Kenyan front apart and reduced them to an embarrassing score of 69 all out in just 23.5 overs. Bennet got 4 wickets in as little as 5 overs just giving away 16 runs. He was well supported by T.G Southee who got himself 3 wickets in just 6 overs and a very low economy rate of 2.16 giving away 13 runs. Read more >>

      ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 - Group B - 1st Match
by Amish Desai

Having lost the toss, India was made to bat first. The decision by Bangladesh to field first was the sensible choice to make as the previous 12 matches played at Mirpur ended up in a result that favoured the preference to bat second. India got off to a cracking start with Sehwag smashing the first ball of the World Cup for a four. Sehwag and Tendulker kept pasting the Bangladeshi bowlers who were all over the pitch. The bowling attack was horrendous and they couldn’t seem to find the right line and length to face the two batsmen.

    OPINION:A-LEAGUE - WHERE TO NEXT?
By Sean Mooney

A second place finish at the 2011 Asian Cup is a huge moment in Australian soccer. It says much about the work that has been done since the A-League replaced the National Soccer League in 2004. However it's evident there is much more work to be done. Click here

WA's INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY STAR: JAYDE TAYLOR
by Philippa Tollit

Just when she thought her time was up on the pitch, Jayde Taylor decided to give it one last shot and try and make it into the Hockeyroos national squad, just in time for the New Dehli Commonwealth Games. The Australian team have a remarkable Commonwealth Games record, having only ever lost one match and claiming two of the three gold medals on offer since 1998.

The Hockeyroos have seen good results of late, finishing fifth at the World Cup in Argentina earlier this year. Strong performances from Jayde saw her retain her spot in the 16-player squad and she was given the opportunity to impress sooner rather than later.

The 25-year-old, who made her Test debut in Europe in June, has surprised even herself with her sudden rise to the top after less than a dozen international games. Read more >>

      SPINNING AROUND
by Lauren Vardy
  top

I admit it. I’m not that coordinated.

Well, that’d be your take if you had the pleasure of witnessing my first ever pole-dancing class. I may be proficient at many things in life, but developing ease at strutting and swirling around a pole is not something I was born with.

I’d heard talk of the classes provided by SheMoves across locations in Joondalup, Perth and Darwin – and hadn’t heard anything bad about them. So I signed up for the beginner’s course at the Joondalup studios and went along to check it out. Read more >>
