Pursuing the Australian scene with the ambition of prosperity and at no cost of originality, And Beyond have now released the first track of their new mixtape.
Focal to mental health issues, the mixtape seeks to create connection to those isolated by misunderstanding, and inspire hope despite the odds against them.
And Beyond, comprised of rapper Insane the Prince (Harrison, 21), and producer ZYTGYST (Kingsley, 22), are on their way up with big things. Lyrically, Insane the Prince speaks a dark narrative of a conflicted mind, weighted in experience and carried with sharp witticism. Stitched together with the creative prodigy of ZYTGYST, the brothers invent an authentic sound that reproduces the value of ‘Beauty in struggle’, which emerged during the Golden-Age hip-hop era. Originating from self-taught poetics and musical ability, And Beyond credits the guidance of artists such as Onyx, Kid Cudi, A Tribe Called Quest, Dr. Dre, Mobb Deep and Flatbush Zombies, but removes similarity of sound and style from any influence.
And Beyond released their first track ‘D.I.E’ in February, 2016, which paved the foundation for the alternative hip-hop scene in which they reside. Progressing with gained experience, ‘Survival of the Fittest’ (May, 2016), ‘Clouds’ (July, 2016), ‘Gasp’ (November, 2016), and most recent track ‘Worst Day’ have all received considerable love on social media; contributing to their growing online following.
Catch them at their first live gig @ The Good Shepard, Wednesday the 29th of this month, with all-star supports.
